God of TODAY

“Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” Matthew‬ ‭6:34‬ ‭ESV‬‬

As the year draws to a close…scratch that…

As the month begins…well, that’s not even true…

As the day progresses, that’s more accurate; I have found myself skipping to the next day taking on the burdens of what’s next.

On the 1st, I’m already trying to figure out how to pay bills coming a due on the 3rd. I even find myself figuring out how the bills due on the 25th are going to be paid.

In addition to that, my mind has been running the proverbial mile a minute trying to complete EVERY task in one day and even “bracing myself” for events that I don’t look forward to.

As I verbally process these thoughts, my special guy will gently remind me, “Dee, you’re not living in today” or he will say “634”.

Hear me out, I understand that we must be planners to some degree, I don’t discount that, Jesus does encourage us to count the cost BUT, He doesn’t tell us to worry. In fact, if we zero in on this verse there is a progression.

Walk with me, if you desire to build a house – first – count the cost to see if there is enough to complete the project. Translation, don’t bite off more than you can chew. Sit and plan and go from there. I do not think it is a sit every day and plan either. I think it’s a plan, execute and tweak AS NECESSARY.

Side note: There will be times when the Lord impresses upon our hearts to do great things. There will be no cost to count for we will have no materials to accomplish the command…we will have to do trust Him though it all and if He says it, that settles it.

Many times we declare Jeremiah 29:11 “For I know the plans I have for you,” rushing ahead to what the Lord has in the future and missing out on today. Because of our perspective, we end up missing the lessons of the process.

Wow! Say that again, Dee.

Many times because we are fixated on tomorrow and getting out of our today living, that we MISS the lessons of today. Abba is not only of tomorrow, or next week, but He’s Lord of today.

So, as I still go through the challenge of living in today, I want to encourage us all to do the same.

I love you friend, have a great DAY.

“Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.” Philippians‬ ‭4:6‬ ‭ESV‬‬

Until next time remember, His Promises are our Guarantee…🙌🏽

  1. Beautiful mesage <3. I am a planner to the MAX, so I can relate 😂. But He is aware of all. We can have faith as we entrust those things we feel anxious about to Him, and enjoy the beautiful moments He gives us as they are in front of us.

      1. It certainly is just too much. I’m so comforted by this post darling! Today my silly brain was stuck in tomorrow and going round and round on the dread of the holidays like a broken record. But, God KNOWS I need to trust Him and that’s why I read this post because His Spirit was leading you to write it and me to read it. Amen. 😍😚

        1. Oh praise the Lord!
          Thank You Holy Spirit.
I pray Lord that You would help Viv to stay in today and that You would remind her that You are big enough to deal with all this holiday related. May she rest in You and lean on You each day, I pray. In Jesus’ name. Amen.

  3. Thanks sis! We don’t need to worry at all about tomorrow. Worrying about tomorrow takes away from enjoying today. Many times when we worry about the future, we end up finding out God had thing worked out all along.

  4. Yep, we are so good at thinking and worrying about tomorrow, that this is a reminder we need so often. This one, and the reminder to let ourselves rest. I don’t always worry about tomorrow specifically, but my thoughts can definitely get away on me fast.

  5. Thank you, thank you, thank you! As Monday rolled around this week I caught myself mentally running through all the activities and busy-ness of the week and already dreading multiple tasks. Thank you for the reminder to slow down, be present in today and take in all the Lord has given me TODAY. Love you sweet friend! Blessings to you!

  6. Hey Dee, I got it! You sure do know how to explain a situation. Once again, I say, your wisdom is older than you are. So young, yet so in tune with the universe. I love reading your blogs and also envy you with lots and lots of LOVE. When I grow up in Heaven, I want to be just like you, Precious One.
