Prayer while choosing to be still

Father, my ABBA…

I sit before You today at a loss of inspiration

So much is happening in my life that at times, I feel as though I’m in a tailspin

The things that I should prioritize, I find that they are not being done

And that which I need not give priority, is taking precedence

I look to You even now Daddy, to still the raging storm within

I ask that You would calm the billowing waves of my mind by saying “Peace be still”

I look to You Abba, feeling broken in so many pieces and places

The well of my finances seem to have dried up

The stream of Your joy feels depleted

At times, even Your peace to me feels abated

My patience fuse seems timed to explode

My time for service is in high demand

My energy, Lord is feeling waned and almost zapped

Father I pray, that You would show me how to consistently place You first

Your Word not only commands that I do this, but assures me that in being obedient, I will find rest in You

Teach me how to practice living always in Your presence

May I not look for a certain hour or certain time of day to turn my heart to You

Incline my ear always to Your voice, Father

Remind me that You are in control and my only roles in this equation are to trust You and obey Your commands

Show me how to be a good steward of what I have been entrusted with

Guide me in my speech, my attitude, even my facial expressions

Bathe me in Your grace so that I will be kind to others

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation and do not take Your Spirit away

Forgive me for grumbling, for murmuring and complaining

Forgive me for doubting You and the promises You gave

Grant me godly wisdom in order to govern myself accordingly

May I model meekness, truth and mercy

Oh and Father, grant me and my blogging friends divine inspiration too 🙌🏽

In Jesus’ name.

Amen.

  1. Oh beloved, thank you for swinging on by 🤗. I heard this phrase a few weeks ago, “I heal as I reveal”. When we are able to be vulnerable before God and others, shifting in our mindset is liable to take place. Be well dear one ❤️

  2. The beginning of your prayer made me think of Paul, and the rest was like a psalm. Deandra, in this time of “free-fall” I pray a baptism of peace that can never be understood. May you find rest and comfort in His great love for you. ♡

          1. Same to you Sis!

“From whom the whole body, joined and knit together by what every joint supplies, according to the effective working by which every part does its share, causes growth of the body for the edifying of itself in love…Ephesians 4:16

              1. We can seek to encourage people with cliches and sweet sounding words, but NOTHING truly encourages and strengthens us like scripture…I thank God for teaching me that lesson.

                    1. Reading will be in tad 😊 I stand amazed at how God is able to anoint us and clothe us in our brokenness. David said “a broken and contrite heart you will not despise” and it continues to make my heart rejoice when I see how our God can restore to us His joy when we let Him know how weak and empty we are. I feel like the angels who were on repeat crying “Holy Holy Holy” 🙌🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽

                    2. Just heard an excerpt from a sermon last night where the preacher uttered those exact words, which should also be our praise and response….

                    3. The process and the pruning was necessary….

“See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him who speaks from heaven, 26 whose voice then shook the earth; but now He has promised, saying, “Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.” 27 Now this, “Yet once more,” indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. 28 Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. 29 For our God is a consuming fire…Hebrews 12:25-28

                1. Amen! It is certainly that and as Psalm 19:10 reminds us, “More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.”

  3. I agree with you in faith and receive this for you and us all. Every now and then, we all need to have such sincere outpouring of our state before our father. He is a loving and good father. He’ll always listen and and attend to our needs.

    1. Thank you brother and I agree, amen. The Psalms are replete with examples of men outpouring their hearts before God. I always notice that at the end, there is a shift in the Psalmist posture and praise/hope is seen.

    1. Bless the Lord oh my soul and forget not all His benefits. Dawn, I am so thankful that we can run to Abba anytime, anywhere and in whatever form we can. It is my prayer that we all will be vulnerable before our Lord always. Thank you for your prayers, your companionship through writing and your constant love big sis. 🌷

  6. Hah! I just discovered your real name is Deandra! Love it! Our daughter’s name is DeAna. Comes from my maiden name: DaAngeles. (Take the tail off the “g” and you see where we got the unusual spelling! Anyway… I digress… wat I really came here to say was, “Teach me how to practice living always in Your presence,” was the phrase in the prayer that resonated most with me. When we learn to do that, all thoughts of unworthiness dim in the Light of Christ. He is the Lamp unto our feet and the Light unto our paths. Walking with our Abba is the only way to go! God bless you, Precious Deandra! ❤

    1. Jan! Beloved mother in Christ, it is a delight to read your story and hear that I am connected to you not only through Jesus, but also through your name. You should see the smile on my face and the joy that has spread across my heart. That phrase came from a book I’m reading by Brother Lawrence, a monk who decided that he must learn how to practice God’s presence, even as he washed dishes or did menial chores. Sometimes I believe it is easy to put onus on “stealing away” to hear His voice when if we make it a point of duty to be attentive even in the hubbub of our days, we can hear Him speaking or even feel Him smiling. The word you used in the sentence above is correct “walking”…it’s continual, a movement is occurring. Ah! Abba loves us so. Blessings to you woman of virtue and praise ♥️♥️♥️

  7. Such an awesome prayer. Once we are able to detect where we are falling short and turn to Jesus Christ and open our hearts to him and tell him all our hearts cry, he will have mercy and pour out his blessings. Continue to be prayerful.
