Today is usually the day we get to reflect on a few lessons Holy Spirit has been teaching me.
As I reflect on the past week, He has been teaching a lot. Each times I have however sat to craft a post, I find myself stuck mid-way. There is usually a beginning and maybe a middle, but no ending is in sight. Usually for me, this is an indication that the lesson is either still underway, or, I am not to share this post just yet.
That being said, as I stand this morning in the kitchen sharing my heart with Abba on how I feel pressure from all angles in my life, I’m reminded of a few of His attributes that I want to share.
- Yahweh is Faithful – not just what He does (being faithful), but it is simply who He is. He will not abandon me us and He will always come through.
- He is Sovereign– which means everything that is happening in our lives – He knows about it. He is ruler of all. He is our King, our Master, Our Yahweh.
- He cannot lie – we grow up hearing the mantra, God can do anything. Well, He cannot lie.
- And, He cannot fail – He is incapable of failing. It doesn’t matter the size of the giant – our God is bigger.
- He always wins – always. Our Father is incapable of losing. Even if your life looks like it’s in shambles, it is not because He has lost the battle.
- His Words are powerful – and they are true. Think back to a time in your life where His Words came to you and left you feeling transformed.
- He is Lord. As I continue on my journey here on earth, I’m reminded that the Lord wants to be Lord – of every area in my life. When I say I surrender, it is not just my church time, or my devotion time. It is all my time – which means I am not in control – I am not in charge. Newsflash, neither are you who are called by His name.
- He is Love. The word love is used so frivolously in our culture that we often lose the effect when it comes to how we describe Yahweh. His love is unconditional, eternal, without fail, without restrictions, without any strings being attached. He cannot help but love – because that is who He is.
- Lastly, He has a sense of humor. As I continue making breakfast, I share with Him how heavy the load I carry is. His response- “to whom much is given, much is required.” I hear You Abba, loud and clear 😂
How about you friend? On this day, have you learnt any attribute(s) about our Father during your times of crushing and pressing?
#thoughtfulthursday
Yes. When we became suddenly poor a number of years ago I learned through our circumstances that God is the LORD who provides. At first I didn’t believe this even though I had been a Christian for many years. But as I saw God provide over and over I learned God will provide all your needs according to His glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:19

Hallelujah! This is a wonderful lesson Lena Rae. He provides 🙌🏽
Isn’t it so true too? We can be Christians for years upon years and still disbelieve many of His characteristics. This is truly sobering.

Glory to God! What a blessing it is to go to bed and actually rest just because our Good Shepherd is watching over us. Praise the Lord! This is a good one, Pastor Pete 🙌🏽

“He cannot lie.” Thank you for that much-needed reminder. Sometimes it seems like we will never see the things God has spoken to us come to pass but He said His word will not return to Him void so we have to continue to stand on that word until we see it manifest.

Amen, sister!
Sometimes it really does seem that way BUT we have to keep steadfast and hold onto our Daddy’s words and hands.

Thanks fo letting me know. I think it’s on my end. I’ll let it go for now. His name is Matthew Ward, he used to be in a group called the 2nd chapter of Acts back in the late 70’s and 80’s. Him and his 3 sisters made up the group. He was orphaned when he was 12 after loosing both of his parents, first his mom to cancer when he was about 9 or 10, and then his dad to cancer a year or two later. I think there were 5 children I don’t recall, but they were split up to live with different relatives after their parents deaths. He himself fought leukemia in the 90’s. He worships our God in the fires. I thought of the song I sent, he said he wrote it during a “dry” time in his life. He sat down and starting listing the attributes of our Father and that’s where the song came. I recently watched online a little concert he gave on a site called “the upper room” he shared that he lost his daughter in 2017 (?) to alcohol, drugs. I lost my oldest daughter age 23 in 2009 to suicide by hanging. So my heart went out to him. And after he shared what had happened he sang one of his songs “to the King” . Our God is Holy, perfect and loving in all His ways. Thanks for your writings, I love to read them, when I can. Kim

Oh Kim, I’m so sorry about the loss of your oldest daughter. I cannot fathom what that experience has been like and what not having her around is like – at all. Thank you for sharing just a glimpse into your story.
I join you in amazement at how the believer shines after they have been placed in the crucible that undergoes severe heat from the fire. The plan of Abba I believe, is to make us reflect Him and point others to Him. Many of our deepest times of worship come from real deep anguish. He knows. I will certainly check out Matthew Ward. I have a deep fondness for vessels that have been broken but upon repair reflect His glory.
I think too of the Olive how it is pressed usually between two heavy stones to get the oil from it. The oil is usually so rich and potent. So are we who have been pressed. The anointing which comes from us causes the enemies around to tremble. Hallelujah! It is through the pain in my life where I have seen that the Lord has gotten the most glory so all praises be to Him.
Thank you for your love and continued support. You will henceforth be in my prayers. 🙏🏽❤️

He is Jehovah Jireh, my provider. Going through different seasons in life He has provided when we needed. It took us though a time of learning to trust him completely not knowing how and when the provision will come but it did and usually at the last minute.

“Usually at the last minute” – this right here, Manu, is certainly how He is stretching and building our faith muscles. He wants us to trust Him completely, with everything. He wants to prove to us that HE IS OUR PROVIDER. Hallelujah! I love seeing how He’s nene working in your life 🥳

Hugs for you big sis. And thanks for sharing this post. For me, it is that God never changes – so I have had more lows than highs in a while now and through the lows, He doesn’t get overwhelmed as I would and knowing He will lead me through just as He has been, encourages me.

I’ll add “God is merciful” to the list. He sent Jesus to pay the penalty for MY sin, he has clothed me in HIS righteousness and holiness, He fills me with HIS fruit of the Spirit, and provides countless blessings–all completely undeserved. P.S. I’m glad you included “sense of humor” on your list, Deandra. Praise God for the gift of humor that lifts our spirits!

While I’m grateful for all His patience and mercy for all the times I’ve failed Him, He’s also been teaching me (again) that His instructions for me to live righteously are not just for Him or for everybody else, but for my own benefit as well. Just think, we GET to be friends with the King of the universe! We GET to obey Him and enjoy sweet fellowship with Him! 🙌💖

Ruth, it has been a while, sister. And my have you come back with a very good lesson, one that I (we) often overlook, far too often. Living righteously benefits us, His children and His friends. This is a very good one, thank you for the reminder ❤️
Blessed are those who obey His precepts 🙏🏽🙌🏽

Dee, my beautiful friend! You are so right! I love this! I know with myself I am learning a very big attribute about God with myself is that He is not so much concerned with my discomfort as He is concerned with what that discomfort is birthing in me. Someone once told me (not in a disrespectful way) that they felt God didn’t know how to tell time! I thought that was humorous, because us humans want everything done in a hurry and with as little pain as possible! At least this one does 😂🤷🏼♀️

I love the lesson you’re learning and wholeheartedly agree. Abba is into character development- even at the expense of our comfort and ‘happiness’. Let’s stay in that crucible, girlfriend. Let’s sit in that crucible even as the fire turns up 🙌🏽
PS: I do agree with that individual, God can be a snail when it comes to our rabbit nature 😂 (Isaiah 55:8-9). 🤗

Amen, Dee! God is indeed faithful, His promises are “yes and amen.” And for sure, the deepest lessons in trust come through the “trying of our faith.” Thank you for always sharing the “meat” of your life which is “hid in Christ Jesus, our Lord.” ♥
